Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Cumbria
Relax as we head north to our holiday base in Cumbria. Upon arrival at the Riverside Hotel, you will be greeted with a welcoming serving of fresh tea and coffee. After the porterage service takes care of your luggage, settle into your room before gathering for a delicious three-course table d'hôte or carvery dinner.
Day 2: Ullswater Cruise & Northern Lakes
This morning, we head into the dramatic northern landscapes of the Lake District towards Lake Ullswater. Here, we embark on a relaxing cruise aboard the famous Ullswater Steamers, taking in the spectacular mountain views from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge. The rest of your day is spent at leisure in the vibrant market town of Keswick, surrounded by some of the area's highest and most beautiful peaks, followed by a scenic stop in the charming village of Grasmere.
Day 3: Steam Railway & Windermere Cruise
A leisurely morning begins with a nostalgic heritage rail journey. We board the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway for a delightful single steam journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. No visit to the Lake District would be complete without a cruise on its most famous water; from Lakeside, we immediately board a Windermere Lake Cruise to sail across the water to the bustling, popular holiday town of Bowness-on-Windermere. Disembark and enjoy free time exploring the local cafes, shops, and picturesque lakeside sights.
Day 4: Ambleside & Artisan Distillery Tour
Today features a wonderfully scenic drive to Ambleside, one of the most popular towns in the heart of the Lake District, sitting beautifully at Waterhead where the sweeping views across Lake Windermere are not to be missed. In the afternoon, we make our way south to the historic market town of Ulverston. Here, we enjoy a fascinating 1-hour tour and tasting at the family-run, award-winning Shed 1 Distillery, sampling their premium, artisan craft gin.
Day 5: Homeward Bound
After a hearty full English breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the lakes. We load the coach and head homeward bound, full of wonderful memories of Cumbria.
